SITUATIONS

When what
needs your attention isn’t obvious

Some business decisions aren’t
straightforward.

Sometimes it’s obvious what needs doing in your business.

A client raises an issue. Something stops working and you know exactly where to look.

Other times, it isn’t that clear.

You notice something has changed, but you can’t quite explain what.
You’re considering an important decision, but several options make sense. Or you’ve already made a change that helped, only to find yourself wondering what needs your attention next.

In those moments, it’s natural to focus on whatever is demanding your attention now.

But what you’re dealing with today didn’t necessarily begin today

THERE'S A HISTORY

The decision you are trying to make today has a history

Your business has been shaped over time by decisions you made, opportunities you followed, clients who chose you, things that worked, things that changed and results you expected.

What made sense then doesn’t have to have been wrong to deserve another look now.

HERE'S WHAT THAT CAN LOOK LIKE

Three common situations

You may recognise yourself clearly in one of these situations.

Or parts of your experience may sit across more than one.

Either way, you can start with what has your attention now.

SITUATION 1

Something has changed, but I can’t put my finger on it.

Nothing is obviously wrong. Your business is still moving. You simply keep noticing things that make you wonder whether something has shifted.

SITUATION 2

I’m about to make an important change, but I’m no longer sure it’s the right one.

You have possible answers. More than one may make sense. But the decision will require time, money or energy, and you want to feel confident before committing.

SITUATION 3

Why is there always another thing to fix?

You thought the last change would be enough.
It helped. Perhaps you’d even make the same decision again. But somehow you’re looking at another part of the business and wondering what needs changing now.

Not sure which situation fits best?

Let's talk about what's really going on in your business and what's possible
